I am so grateful for the awesome vision therapy experience I had at Neuro Eye Team! Dr. Conley and my therapists, Britany & Christine, were incredibly supportive and knowledgeable throughout my year of therapy.
I have exotropia (eye turns), and at my very first appointment with Dr. Conley, he corrected my glasses prescription. It turns out I had been wearing the completely wrong prism lenses for almost a decade. For context, I'd seen 4 different optometrists and ophthalmologists in 2 different states in the decade prior to that very first appointment with Dr. Conley. In my opinion, I don't think many eye doctors really understand exotropia or exophoria -- so I am so glad to have found someone who truly understands the condition and knows how to treat it as opposed to simply adding more and more prism to the lenses as a band-aid fix.
Before starting therapy, I struggled with headaches, eye strain, and difficulty focusing for extended periods. Working remotely, my eyes always felt very strained and tired at the end of each day. My vision therapy program at Neuro Eye Team was very comprehensive. It included a variety of exercises designed to improve eye coordination, tracking, focusing, and overall visual processing. The at-home activities were also super achievable. All in all, the therapists are highly skilled and made the exercises fun and challenging. Britany & Christine are also super knowledgeable and were able to answer my many, many questions about the why behind each of the exercises too.
Over the course of my year in vision therapy, I noticed a significant improvement in my vision and, honestly, my overall well-being. My headaches decreased dramatically, and I can now focus for longer periods without experiencing eye fatigue. I highly recommend Neuro Eye Team to anyone in need of vision therapy. Dr. Conley and his team are truly dedicated to helping their patients achieve their best possible vision!
Where to start?
A huge Thank you to Dr. Conley and the entire office! You guys are doing amazing work. Thank you to Victoria James for being so kind and loving to my son, for all your hard work and support.
My son was having multiply neurological symptoms and we didn't know what was happening with him. After taking him to his pediatrician and our regular ophthalmologist we were even more confused. We were told that he has OCD, Tourette syndrome and possibly other conditions and it was highly suggested to put him on medication.
When he was 5, I took him in for an eye exam to his pediatric ophthalmologist. I felt like something was wrong with his vision but was told he had 20/20 vision and he was fine. Fast forward, I took him back at 13, still perfect vision, nothing wrong. However we were losing him, his personality was changing, he was becoming more distant, frustrated and we felt so lost.
After the last visit to his pediatrician and being told to put him on medication, I said No, something else is going on, they suggested psychiatry, evaluation from a psychiatrist and I said No. I have my reasons for saying no, those were a last resorts for me.
We ended up taking him to Brain Balance for a full evaluation of his neurological sensory system. Finally we had answers, all of his senses were overstimulated and he had retained reflexes. But BB is very expensive. While we were working on trying to come up with the funds, I researched "Help with Neuro eye disorders" because brain balance said he was only using 31% out of 100% of his vision. Which confused me, b/c his regular ophthalmologist said he had 20/20 vision. This is when I learned that neurological conditions/disorders can heavily disrupt the sensory system. My son had three significant falls, two falls between 6-12months old, and then again when he 5. The E.R. never did any scans, they just monitored him and cleared him medically of any serious injury. I'm not sure if he was born with the neuro problems or if they were due to the falls he sustained. Either way his sensory system was on overload which was causing physical and behavior issues.
Dr. Conley came up in my search and the rest is history. We decided to start here and so glad we did. (We decided not to go with brain balance.)
My son was evaluated and tested through Dr. Conley and I am happy to report that my son is doing amazing. He completed therapy and he's thriving.
He didn't have OCD, he didn't have Tourette's.
He had several neurological conditions that were treated with vision therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. He has completed vision therapy, o.t. and will finish speech therapy within a few months. Thank you again Dr. Conley for your hard work and dedication in helping my son and others, b/c Dr. Conley also has many adult patients as well. Thank you again!
Dr. Alex Conley gave me my quality of life back! I was going through a very difficult time with dizziness, eye strain, headaches, and disorientation. My eyes were in disconnect with my vestibular system which was debilitating not only for myself, but as a mom to be able to function in the way that was needed. Bright lights gave me distorted vision where it was hard to make out an object immediately. I would catch glimpses of things and see stripes while riding as a passenger because it wasn’t safe for me to drive for months. Although I didn’t have blurry vision, it would take my brain fractions of a second to catch up to what my eyes were seeing. The muscles around my eyes would twitch and felt so fatigued.
Reading was impossible as the movement going back and forth was overwhelming and disorienting me.
With that being said, I was referred to Dr. Conley by my physical therapist, Amy Goddard. She had previously had some patients work with Dr. Conley and he had done wonders for them and suggested I see what he had to say. I showed up for my first appointment in tears after going to multiple doctors including a neurologist, ENT, and vestibular physical therapist with no step closer to figuring out my issue. Dr. Conley welcomed me with such compassion and made me feel hope for the first time. He was extremely thorough with his evaluation and made me feel heard and comforted by my strange symptoms. He discovered that the 5 previous eye doctors I had seen since 7th grade had all overcorrected me each just adding on to the next. I went from wearing -2.5 in one eye and -1.5 in the other for years to actually needing very little correction at all. Eye Doctors just kept building on top of my current prescription and not ever really checking to see if that was right for me. My system was so overwhelmed by the years of overcorrection.
My journey is rather out of the norm, but Dr. Conley was patient and took his time with me to come up with the best plan of action. He reset my vision, put me in training glasses with prisms and reevaluated them ever so often to accommodate the change my eyes were making to get back to normal. I also did a series of eye therapy sessions using one of his staff, Megan. We worked on a variety of things to help connect my eyes and brain as well as to help use my peripheral vision more instead of being so tunnel visioned.
Now, I’m proud to say that I’m currently correction free. I do not wear contacts or glasses and my eyes and vestibular system are finally more relaxed! I will forever be so grateful to Dr. Conley for changing the way I was having to cope to not even needing to worry about it. I do not trust other eye doctors and have all my family members see him! I will say with confidence, you will not regret having Dr. Conley as your doctor!
If you have vision issues or want a comprehensive vision exam, I cannot more highly recommend the Neuro Eye Team.
Six months ago, I noticed I constantly had tunnel vision and dark shadowing within my main field of view. I struggled to focus. My regular eye doctor cleared me as having healthy eyes and 20/20 vision with contacts and dismissed me. Every doctor looked at me baffled and I started to question what I was seeing vs what I previously recalled seeing. My primary doctor referred me to an Ophthalmologist, since I still felt something was wrong. I photoshopped this graphic to communicate what I was seeing, in hopes that someone would take me seriously. After 4 failed referrals of doctors not making me an appointment, I found the Neuro Eye Team. With simple tests on the first visit, they were able to map and understand exactly what I was experiencing without even seeing my photoshopped image. After less than 2 months, my vision has been corrected. They are an amazing team!
Life-changing for the better!
Yes, that might sound dramatic- but how else would you describe being able to see better and being able to improve proprioception that has been so bad I’ve had a Service dog for the last eight years? I was introduced to Dr. Conley through my PRI Specialist, Jennifer Bullock, and couldn’t be happier.
During the first exam, I was introduced to Eric. His personality, knowledge, and professionalism make each appointment a joy.
From the receptionists to each specialist, I know I am in good hands. And look forward to increasing my peripheral vision, reducing my anxiety, Improving my eyesight, and enjoying a more joyous life.
Thank you for helping people in ways that other neuro-eye centers only talk about!!!
Doctor was very nice and I really appreciate how much help he has given just by the first appointment. I have been struggling to find an answer after talking to multiple professionals. I have never left a review in my life so trust me. Thank you!! Excited to get better 😎
